Since its opening in early 2018, Hotel des Grands Boulevards, located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, stands in close proximity to the Paris Opera House and the Louvre. Despite its unassuming façade, the hotel exudes a modern charm once you step inside. Sitting in one of its charming rooms and stepping out onto the narrow balcony, you can catch a glimpse of the tranquil rooftop terrace, The Shed, and the courtyard space within the building, creating a serene oasis away from the bustling “Grands Boulevards” just outside.
Originally built on the eve of the French Revolution on the foundation of a garden, the building underwent a transformation by designer Dorothée Meilichzon, who seamlessly blended the Parisian style of the Louis XVI era. Coral-red marble tiles, vintage-style canopy beds, arched mirrors, and parquet flooring reminiscent of the Palace of Versailles characterize the hotel’s interior. To this, Meilichzon added elements with a pastoral touch, including dried flowers, terracotta, and linen. The color palette is rich yet clean, featuring deep blue, forest green, lime white, mint, and vibrant pink. The result is a space that is luxurious without excess, striking the perfect balance of comfort.
Grand Restaurant serves as both the breakfast room and the exclusive dining venue within the hotel. Featuring a semi-open kitchen visible through glass, guests can observe the precision of the kitchen staff and the meticulous details of the plating. The head chef, renowned for his “New Parisian Cuisine” style, is Giovanni Passerini. In terms of culinary design, the menu seamlessly combines traditional French and Italian cooking methods. As night falls, the sudden amplification of music transforms the atmosphere into that of a nightclub, indicating that patrons walking in may not be limited to hotel residents.
