Nimb Hotel is a property under the Tivoli Gardens umbrella, located just across from Copenhagen Central Station. Guests can exchange their hotel key card for a wristband that provides unlimited access to the amusement park. On the day of check-out, guests can even extend their park access by updating the wristband, allowing for an extra day of enjoyment. Established in 1843, Tivoli holds the distinction of being one of the oldest amusement parks globally, surpassed only by Dyrehavsbakken in Denmark and Wurstelprater in Vienna.
Situated in the heart of the city, the hotel maintains a tranquil ambiance despite its central location, backed by a garden-style amusement park. With fewer than 40 rooms in low-density buildings, the space is both expansive and intimate. Bedrooms are adorned with peculiar 19th-century decorations and curiosities such as vases, lampshades, and carved wooden mirrors—a microcosm of the amusement park itself. Imagine sitting on the balcony sofa with a Bluetooth speaker, taking in the views and the bustle of the amusement park below, accompanied by the occasional chime of a nearby clock tower. Directly facing a 19th-century Chinese-inspired pantomime theater, the various architectural styles of pavilions and terraces evoke the city’s fantasies of the East from a century or two ago.
After the pandemic, the “turndown service” is making a comeback. In addition to drawing the curtains and placing slippers by the bedside, there’s now a foot bath at the foot of the bed, stocked with herbal soap, accompanied by moisturizing sleep socks and foot cream. Plus, a lavender sachet is placed on the pillow.
In the Brasserie restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served, you’ll find Scandinavian traditional cinnamon buns and Danish specialties like “open-faced sandwiches.” Don’t hesitate to try unique offerings such as wild mushrooms paired with crispy-fried salsify. Dining in the evening, surrounded by the lights of the amusement park, feels like stepping into a fairy-tale world as depicted in books.
