According to local media reports in Romania, on Tuesday morning, due to a snowstorm, four sections of national roads in Vrancea County and Vaslui County were closed. These sections are DN 23B Stupina-Ciorasti and DN 11A Bârlad – Iveşti in Vrancea County, and DN 24A Husi – Berezeni and DN 26 Murgeni – Blăgești in Vaslui County. Additionally, Neamţ, Vaslui, and Botosani counties have implemented weight restrictions on certain road sections.
Due to heavy snowfall reducing visibility and causing snow accumulation, some roads are experiencing extremely challenging traffic conditions. During the early hours from Monday to Tuesday, vehicles on the roads got stranded in the snow due to the snowstorm. A public bus carrying 47 passengers slid out of control near Doaga in Vrancea County, and a car got stuck in the snow between Tisita and Panciu, with three people later being rescued. An ambulance on its way to a patient’s house, a dialysis vehicle, and several cars were also stranded on various roads in Botosani County overnight.
Additionally, due to freezing conditions in the Moldova region, railway tracks have fractured, affecting both freight and passenger trains with delays and speed restrictions.
Due to the severe weather conditions, the emergency committee in Iași County has decided to move all schools in the area to online classes. In seven counties, including Bacău, Botoșani, Brăila, Buzau, Galați, Neamț, and Suceava, some schools have also switched to online learning.
