Spanish Steps

The Spanish Steps is a square located in the heart of Rome, Italy, connecting the Spanish Square with the Trevi Fountain. It is one of the most famous squares in Rome. This Baroque-style square is a gathering place for tourists and locals alike, renowned for its elegant design and the surrounding shopping district.

At the center of the Spanish Steps is the luxurious palace called the “Palazzo di Spagna,” which served as the residence of the French ambassador in the early 18th century. On either side of the square are staircases adorned with sculpted fountains, leading up to the French church, the Trinità dei Monti. The steps are adorned with vibrant flowers, creating a beautiful landscape.

The square was designed by the French architect Francesco de Sanctis and constructed between 1725 and 1726. The Spanish Steps serve as a popular leisure and socializing spot, attracting tourists and locals to relax, enjoy the scenery, and bask in the sunny days.

The square is also popular for hosting special celebrations and cultural events throughout the year, including music performances, art exhibitions, and festival celebrations. Overall, the Spanish Steps is an indispensable, vibrant landmark in the city life of Rome.
